The eight limbs of yoga will be familiar to many yogis as they define Patanjali’s method of yoga; this is the sutra that lists them all! Note that posture (asana) is only one of the eight limbs. Yoga is a complete practice that encompasses every single aspect of our lives: every interaction with another being, every purchase decision we make, even every thought that crosses the mind (no one ever said it would be easy!). Physical practice is a fantastic gateway into this way of being but to be most effective we should practice all of the eight limbs regularly. The rewards in terms of physical, mental and spiritual transformation are pretty compelling.
