Day 18 of #yogasutrachallenge: YS 1.18 Virama-pratyayabhyasa-purva samksakra-s’eso ‘nyah My interpretation: In the final stage of meditation is reached by the practice of stopping all thoughts. In this stage, only latent subconscious elements remain. Liberation. In the last stage of meditation you reach Samadhi. Enlightenment. The ultimate goal of yoga. The eternal consciousness of the soul has nothing to be conscious of but itself. Anything about our minds – our memories, our behavioural patterns, our thoughts, are all suspended. Latent. Existing only as potential. The final thought you have before reaching this state, is that of stopping all thoughts. Once this stage is reached, a person can return to the world as a jivanmukta – a liberated soul.
