Day 21 of #yogasutrachallenge: YS 1.21 Tivra-samveganam asannah My interpretation: Enlightenment is not far off if you apply yourself intensely How long it takes to reach enlightenment depends on how hard you try. If you’re enthusiastic and intense in your practice, it can come pretty quickly, whereas if you apply yourself only moderately or not much at all it will take much longer. While Patanjali doesn’t say how long ‘pretty quickly’ actually means, I think it’s safe to assume we’re not talking about the length of time it takes to be able to fit back into your old pair of skinny jeans or to grow out a bad haircut. We’ve seen elsewhere that roughly 100 years of regular yoga practice is what is involved, so with real dedication it might still be possible to get there in this lifetime. Me, I think it'll find it at a gentler pace :)
