Day 20 of #yogasutrachallenge: YS 1.20 Sraddha-virya-smrti-prajna-purvakah itersam
Day 20 of #yogasutrachallenge: YS 1.20 Sraddha-virya-smrti-prajna-purvakah itersam. My interpretation: Practice with faith, confidence, energy, a good memory, absorption and insight is needed to reach enlightenment. The way we practice, the attitude we have towards our practice, is the key. To doubt yourself, the practice of yoga, or the Universe itself will not help you progress. While this doesn’t mean you have to have so much energy that you’d do 108 sun salutes a day, so much confidence that you’d perform a balance on top of a rock, or so much absorption that you meditate for 24 hours. It does mean what you do carry out, within your own limits, you do in the best way you can. Yesterday we heard that some yogis can get trapped in subtler realms of existence and become angels and the spirits. These souls have learned how to discriminate between their state of isolation and real freedom. Patanjali suggest to avoid (returning to) these states, or if we have never been in one of these states before this lifetime and would like to avoid them, we should follow these methods which he will outline in greater detail in these sutras to reach enlightenment.
