As We Live And Breathe
Events & Collaborations
By honing our ability to slow down our pace and find a sense of stillness and presence, and by developing our sense of what's possible through body, intention and breath, Natalie's teaching inspires a gradual awakening of, and shift towards, the fullness of our potential.
Natalie’s approach blends ancient Buddhist and yogic practices and contemporary breath, mindset and movement modalities to cultivate our vitality, awareness and our connection with the world. She is particularly interested in how, through developing a deeper connection with the nervous system and the senses we are able to shift towards a greater sense of harmony and wholeness.
Natalie started practicing yoga and meditation as a teenager and developed her practice throughout her corporate career to help her manage stress, enhance her performance and maintain a healthy body and mind. She didn’t fully realise it for a while, but she was also in search of a greater sense of meaning and purpose, and a way of living her live in line with her deepest values.
She eventually trained in yoga with such renowned international teachers as Sarah Powers and Shiva Rae, and in meditation with zen master and psychotherapist Michael Stone. She continues to develop her meditation teaching with Bodhi College under the tutelage of such teachers as John Peacock, Christina Feldman and Stephen Batchelor and at Plum Village under the Order of Interbeing, founded by Thich Nhat Hahn. She is also studying towards her 300hr advanced yoga teacher training with Sianna Sherman and undertaking a 200hr sound yoga teacher training with Leo Cosendai.
As her spiritual practice has developed to become more outward looking towards issues of social justice and the environment, she have also discovered a rekindling of her background in economics and social science in order to understand the mechanisms behind how our society operates. Much of her motivation, teaching and inquiry now centres around how personal, social and planetary well-being inform each other.

Support on creating a more beautiful way of being and living in our world
This is a time where the ground is shifting beneath our feet. Rapid changes in technology and the environment have become the norm and are only set to accelerate. Our post-industrial era saw tremendous growth, innovation, and increased quality of life for those of us on the fortunate side of the equation. It also generated enormous inequality globally and environmental degradation. As economic growth is set to slow to almost zero and as we enter a climate emergency, how can we find new ways of living that promote a sense of security and flourishing for ourselves and help to create a regenerative environment for future generations?
AS WE LIVE AND BREATHE is an endeavour which is inspired by the work of ecological thinkers such as Joanna Macy, Naomi Klein and Bill McKibbin. On the work of innovators in economic thinking such as Kate Raworth. And of course on the ancient wisdom of Buddhist contemplative practices as well as the contemporary neuroscience which corroborates much of the techniques presented in the Buddhist mindfulness teachings.
For our part, we’re looking to help people find a real sense of well-being and for flourishing within this very society. A means of opening up a conversation around how we really want to live and an opportunity to create powerful movement for change. We want to help facilitate the discovery within each and every one of us of an alternative future. Our future.
Activism is draining, psychologically demanding work, and as such activists require a strong emphasis on regeneration and self-care to avoid burn out. Natalie is honoured to be active within Extinction Rebellion, teaching and facilitating groups at actions and events, coordinating the production of wellbeing and regenerative support at these events and actions, and helping to inform strategy for the long-term wellbeing within Extinction Rebellion. The regenerative culture ethos provides an example for personal and planetary wellbeing going forward into the very different world we can expect to inhabit in the future.
